    Default London Game Mat

Did anyone buy an excess of the Zeppelin Staaaken R. VI aircraft and have extra maps sitting around? I got a single bomber and don’t have a need for a second, but would like to connect the two to have the full London experience. I’d gladly pay for the map and postage if anyone has one available.

Charles, it might help your cause if you can tell the chaps which side of the London map you have.

It’s two sided, as fast as I know they’re both the same map, I’d just have the opposite side facing up from another. It’s the paper map from the Zeppelin bombers, not a neoprene mat.

If they’re different maps in the bombers the then I’ve got the Schoeller version.

I am 99.9% sure you are right - the two halves of the map are on two sides of the same paper mat, so two of them will do no matter if they come from tne same or from different versions of the Staaken.

Thanks guys for confirming my assumption! Does anyone happen to have an extra London map that they wouldn’t mind parting with for a few dollars?

Does anyone know how to turn the paper London map into a neoprene map. Any mat company that can photo copy and print on neoprene.

There are a number of options. I have used my local office works to print images in the largest possible size on their machine (A1 size) for my paper Oak and Iron and Dawn Patrol mats and laminated one and printed the other one on special paper. But you still get the paper creases and fold lines.

I think Deepcut studios https://www.deepcutstudio.com/ do a far better job with their custom mats. I have three 6x4 cloth ones of theirs and they are great and the cost is a bit cheaper than 3 of the old WoG neoprene ones.

Perhaps if you send them an email you can get them to do a London from above or whatever other city mat for you. I think quite a few of us would be interested in that too. (I wouldn't mind an old Vienna one either as the Italians used to be regular visitors over the alps in WWI).

Could someone put a photo of the London map on here or e-mail me a copy so I can judge size and altitude it represents. Got an idea for Deep Cut to do me a 6x4 of Central London including the Thames, docks, St. Paul's etc. Now have an urge to bomb it

Take a look at this thread and this one[/I] from 2016, Iain, it'll give you a good idea of the size & scale.

The nearest two mats are the pair, the one at top of frame is a third so doesn't 'fit'

One thought I had was would it work to use Wings Over Flanders Fields WWI sim screenshots of London? I know that has London in it as I have flown there a few times. Just have to work out the altitude for the best shot.

The paper maps are the size of a WoG mat iirc, Iain, Andrzej had three side by side, so I guess it was around the 2.4m mark, that's getting on toward 8ft under perspex or similar.
