  4. Thanks all. You are very kind. Bastien, it's certainly possible. I don't know of any pre-made decals with historical 1/144 markings, but decal paper to print your own is great. This is especially so if you have access to a laser printer. (Note: laser and inkjet paper are different! Using inkjet paper in a laser can fill the machine with melted plastic!)
  5. Nothing too flash here; just a change of decals and some light touch-ups, but it shows that the "Hill" variant is quite versatile. It's not 100% historical, being rather a composite of elements in several photos. Ready for Operation Husky!

  7. Hi all, I played around with a Dr.I to see how much detail in the models can be brought out with a few painting techniques. The dragon was passant, but it looked a bit too Welsh for the Central Powers. Joints and depressions between ribs were shaded with inks, and edges highlighted with the edge of a brush. Missing details were painted on, such as on the engine. The decals are made with laser decal paper. I checked with a German mate about the correct noun conjugation. A Dullcoat spray was used at the end to even out the paint job. The paint scheme is completely fictitious, but I quite like it and might use it on a few more. (Next up is a Gotha, for which I printed kraken decals.) It's really nice how much the models can be polished!

  9. Hi all, I just picked up two of these beauties, and was planning to do one up as a US C-47 for Operation Husky. Does anyone have any colour plates for such, or painting guidelines? It would be the roundel with the bars and red outline, and no invasion stripes, but beyond that I don't know enough. Cheers folks!

  11. Hi folks, Without any twin-engine Soviet planes to purchase, I did up a captured Bf.110. From what I read (or rather, what Google translate reads for me) at this website - http://lib.rus.ec/b/205944/read five C variants were bought under Molotov–Ribbentrop, and several G variants were captured from Romania. And with a slightly tarted-up Yak-1 Markings are somewhat speculative based on the low-quality photos on that website, the style of other Soviet planes from the time, and my personal taste for the late-war roundel and a match with the Yak.
