  1. Have tried to reach A.I.M. recently to fill in some gaps in my WWI/PTO aircraft - to no response. Anyone know if it is still in business? Thanks!
  2. Any way we can assist?
  3. I've been trying to get caught up on the site migration - a lot to take in. Just migrated a website recently and it was far less complex than this - you have my sympathies. Am I correct in assuming that, at some point, all of the files from the old site "Files" section will be replicated here? Fingers crossed. Best of luck getting this sorted.

    Here's a link to all of the photos I took that were fit to share: https://link.shutterfly.com/9uSohT3a1tb For fans of WWI Aviation, this is a great event for Midwesterners
  5. For this and other reports of the goings-on in our circle of mad modelers and gamers, look us up at https://theatomfurnace.blogspot.com/2022/04/back-on-attack-wings-of-glory.html
  6. After a long Pandemic-induced hiatus, our tiny group of Intrepid Gamers got together to sponsor an imaginary conflict between the Italians and the Austro-Hungarians in 1917.
  7. Having been playing both Wings of Glory and Bolt Action for some time, I had wanted to set up a scenario in the air, and fight it out on the ground. Having also been a long time student of American airborne operations in WWII, specifically the Glider Infantry, how many of my interests could I pack into the same sausage, as it were? It was a great chance to field test both my homebrewed Glider rules (Look here for files: https://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=2596 ) and our ability to translate a landing into a ground battle. The relative success or failure of Allied forces to safely land those gliders would affect the forces available, and starting conditions, of the Bolt Action scenario that followed. For the Air portion, go here: https://theatomfurnace.blogspot.com/2021/12/quick-campaigns-wings-of-glory-bolt.html. For the ground portion, go here: https://theatomfurnace.blogspot.com/2021/12/quick-campaigns-wings-of-glory-bolt_5.html. Although the ultimate outcome is still in doubt, a number of lessons have been learned. As a Wings of Glory scenario, it will not please players eager for lot of air combat; it is not air-to-air focused, the glider landing mechanics more similar to slow motion bombing. The Axis needs luck, strategy, and a good eye for AA to be successful. And can afford to be reckless, as losses in this phase have no effect on the second. I may consider allowing Allied air to attrit the German forces by strafing the Troop concentrations. The Allies had a near flawless delivery to the LZ yet still landed with a point deficit and a lack of significant anti-armor capability. I may consider starting with a higher Allied point total to help compensate. Feel free to provide your own insights, either tactically or game-mechanics. Enjoy, we did!
  8. The blisters were made from bombs in the spares box. Hit the link in my original post for the full story.
  9. The COVID quarantines have resulted in a LOT of modeling time. Due to my severe ADMD (Attention Deficit Modeling Disorder) I am typically working on several projects in several genres and scales simultaneously. One of these projects, this time a joint one with my brother, requires a G4M1, not currently available from my go-to aftermarket 1/200 vendor, Armaments In Miniature. Our plan is to create and photograph a vignette of the Yamamoto shootdown mission, Operation Vengeance. In order to get correct aircraft requires modification. Above is a current in-progress picture. For the entire sordid tale, check here: https://theatomfurnace.blogspot.com/2020/10/on-bench-operation-vengeance.html?m=1 Before: After: This shows the turret removed, side windows filled in, 3 new blisters, radio antennae, guns added, nacelles and nose modified, and a first coat of IJN Dark Green applied. With markings. And before the historophiles mention it, yes, I know Yamamoto's plane was numbered 323; I am building Ugaki's plane, also shot down. Willi will be building 323 ;-) Here she is ready for flat spray: All it needs is a peg. And a base. And a card. Back to work!
  10. Haven'y checked in here for a while, but that doesn't mean I've been idle ;-) First up, all of the capital ships in the IJN and USN fleets for use in a Midway-based WGS game: Then, a couple of squads of Bolt Action Miniatures: And a Nieuport 17 will be ready soon. Other than that, nothing to report ;-)
  11. It would indeed. Can't really fight the PTO battles without torpedoes. Will US use a different damage draw than the Japanese to reflect their differences in reliability ? ;-)
  12. Valom kit built for Aerodrome member ArkansasChuck; Jasta 18, Leutnant August Raben, spring 1918;
  13. Best to "announce yourself" in the Report For Duty thread ( https://www.wingsofwar.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?37-US-Wing) which it appears you have done. Congratulations!
  14. How do you report for flight training?:confused:
