I like this. Hawker was awarded the first VC for a single-engine fighter-on-fighter engagement, he shot down 2 enemy aircraft firing obliquely because there was no synchronisation gear available. Lots of interesting info about the use of this aircraft here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Scout
