Since the Fokker D.VII was the only aircraft specifically called out in the Armistice of Compiègne, what better better aircraft to highlight with this repaint contest! Besides, we could all use another D.VII in our hangars :D

This has been our most successful contest to date! We had no less than 17 members take to the skies in freshly painted Albatros D.IIIs! Many of you thought that the painting part of the contest was the hardest part, not so, the voting is!

Criteria you should look for when voting for your favorite entry:

Smooth paint

Crisp lines between colors

Build quality (if it is a metal or resin kit)

Surface prep (if it is a Shapeways model)

The Devil is in the details, take time to look for the painted details

Unique subject, is it a pilot/plane that you have seen a lot of?
I also suggest you note your top picks and come back after a while and view them again before voting.

Good Luck everyone!

It has always taken back seat to other, more pressing, projects here on the site. Well the time has come to get the ball rolling on this project.

At the heart of this project is an online site (host here on the Aerodrome) that will players to sign in, select their Flight leader and submit game results from the missions played with their local group.

These submissions will be funneled to the Flight Leaders and finally on to me, the Campaign Commander (oh, I sound important!). The results from all of the different gaming groups will be tallied together to determine the overall outcome of that mission. This group outcome will decide if the Attackers advance or fallback on the mission tree.

The site will also track everyone's pilot, his kills and other stats. There will be a results/ranking page as well that will show where every pilot stands compared to everyone around the world.

This is an ambitious project and is going to require many website pages to be coded as well as database integration to be done. This coding is not free, so I have come up with an idea (along with Ed2) on how to raise some of these funds and still give the members something in return besides just the added function here on the site.

Everyone that makes a donation, regardless of the amount will receive the newly created KotA Contribution Medal designed by Max Headroom:

For those of you that like to collect the gongs, this will be the only way to get this new shiny!

Now, I know that a little virtual medal is not really enough, so Ed2 had generously donated a new, unopened Series 3 "Lufbery" Neiuport 17 miniature!

Here is how this will work. I will hold an old fashion raffle for the Lufbery miniature. For every $5 that you donate, you will receive 1 raffle ticket. I have a whole roll of tickets and when I receive a donation, I will PM the member the number on the ticket. All tickets will go into a container and one of my step-daughters will draw the winning ticket. The winner will be contacted via PM for shipping information (shipping covered by me).

Contest Name: Dawn of Air Combat Contest
Who Can Enter: Anyone registered on the site
Deadline: 23:59 on September 8th (make sure to use Mountain Standard Time!!)
Prize: The new Revised Deluxe miniatures set

To commemorate the first time a plane was brought down in air to air combat, Wings of War Aerodrome is holding a contest truly deserving of the new Revised Deluxe miniatures set. There are three parts to this contest.

Part 1: Objective marker

For this part of the contest you need to model some type of an objective marker. This could be a shot down plane, a target to bomb, or an entire airfield. You may use whatever components you would like to build the objective marker. The only limitation is that it should be done to scale with the current Wings of War or Dawn of War miniatures. If you are going to model something like a bombing target, it is except able to model it at a smaller scale to simulate altitude.

Part 2: Objective Mission

Now that you have a nice objective modeled up, we need a mission written up that uses it. The mission can be multi or single player and should be designed to allow, but not require, the use of all official optional rules in the game. The mission writeup should include any special rules need to play it as well as all diagrams and images needed. It should be presented in a neat and orderly fashion.

Part 3: Objective Fun

Having a nice looking objective marker and new mission to use it in does no good if it is not fun to play. For the last part of this contest you will need to post some photos of the mission being played by you and a group of friends. The photos should clearly show the mission objective as well as the players involved in the game.

Entries should be sent to me via PM along with the required photos and illustrations. If you have any questions, please post them here.

Good luck to all!

Chemo for Prizes

Contest Name: Chemo for Prizes

Prize: $25 credit for Aerodrome Accessories

A local cancer treatment facility is having a fund raiser to help treat kids that can't afford Chemo treatments. For every US gallon of soda can tabs that are collected, they will give a kid 5 chemo treatments for free.

I feel this is a very good fund raiser and would like to extend it out to the pilots here at the Aerodrome. So, start collect these little guys:
