Hi:

My name is Ted Faure and am new to the site. I want to build stats and decks for these torpedo planes. The feeds say decks are available but the download section is empty. If I can't get them, does anyone have any advice on how to make stat cards and maneuver decks? Also, since these planes use torpedoes, are there rules for torpedoes? I read some of the other topics, and learned you can pay to use the site. How do I do that?

	Thank you for your help,

What I have available in my store are decals for Wildcats, Dauntlesses, and Devastators from a few carrier-based squadrons. There should be at least two sheets available for each squadron and each sheet will have markings for four models. The sheets retail for $5 and are available through the store http://shop.miscmini.com/ or via PM.

Decals currently available include markings for VF-3, VF-8, VB-6, and VT-8. Again, if you need markings for other squadrons, please let me know.

The decals are designed to fit 1/200 scale models from Armaments in Miniature. I've not tested them on models from other manufactures.

Here's the first of those requests I mentioned I had for you, for 1/200 scale Northrop P-61 Black Widows. AE Models on Shapeways has two P-61s available, one with dorsal turret, and one without. Most Black Widows didn't have the turret; it caused some buffeting, but the big reason was that the B-29 Superfortress had priority over the P-61 in their manufacture. Anyway, the two aircraft I'd first like to see are both turreted Olive Drab over Neutral Gray birds from the PTO: P-61A 'Skippy'/'Nocturnal Nemesis, from the 421st NFS (based at Tacloban in the Philippines), and P-61A 'Jap-Batty' from the 6th NFS (based on Saipan). The aircraft got its name in large part because the Army Air Force decided that Gloss Black was the most suitable finish for a night fighter, but many ETO Black Widows had invasion stripes on the underside of their tail booms, and I feel that black P-61s really need their red 'pinstriping' (probably access panel lines) to look good. Anyway, here are some images, the first two from Wings Palette:

I don't have an AE Models Black Widow yet--it's the centerpiece of an order I just placed with Shapeways--but when I do, I'll be happy to provide any assistance needed with dimensions.

     Thanks!

One I am looking for is a B 17 E or F I think. Before the chin turret. Plane is the Piccadilly Lily from 12 o'clock high. As far as I have seen so far it had the red triangel with the A on the tail and the serial number 8719 I think. and then the nose art and name. I know they used more then one plane and loads of war footage so could be difficult to nail down.

Then there is Pappy's Corsair from Baa Baa Black Sheep and the rest of VMF 214 from the TV series.

I am sure there are more out there.

VMF-222 F4U-4 Decals

Kevin

I'd like to make a request for decals for this squadron's F4U-4s, operating over Okinawa in the late spring/summer of 1944, using the AIM F4U-5 as the model. Ken Walsh scored his last kill with this squadron, so his Corsair (either White 13 or White A-53) is probably the most colorful of its aircraft, although that's primarily due to his victory flags. There's a little discrepancy between the first, B&W photo and the artwork from Mark Styling's aviation art website--White 318 and White A-54 are both described as being flown by 2nd Lt. Nate Whisenhunt--but the suadron's markings were white ID numbers and letters (and maybe a small white patch on the vertical stabilizer); and F4U-4s don't seem to have needed tape on their cowlings to prevent oil leaks. No hurry on this request, as I still have to acquire the models necessary--although if it's added to your list, that will provide the motivation to buy them and get the models painted :) .

Thanks!

The USN didn't nearly as short a leash on its patrol squadrons regarding individual markings as it did for fighter units (especially those aboard carriers), so there's a fair amount of Privateer nose art to choose from. The one I'd really like to see is Bureau Number 59450 'Abroad for Action' (aircraft ID Y 450) of VPB-121.

There are other examples, of course, featuring not just risque art work (the Navy really let the VP boys get away with murder--VF-27's surviving Hellcats all had their 'faces' painted over on their new carriers immediately), but also variations on the tricolor paint scheme. For example, 'Redwing' of VPB-106, 'Sea-ducer' of VPB-116, and, of course, 'Our Baby,' probably also from VPB-106.

The 348th was still flying razorbacks well into 1945 in the Philippines; when under Neel Kearby's command and fighting over New Guinea, the groups' Thunderbolts were wearing olive drab over neutral gray colors, but later, when the group had moved to the Philippines, natural metal finishes were the norm, and red tail stripes reminiscent of prewar markings were in vogue with the group.

There are two or three other sets, for different units, down the road.

Right now there are two sheets available in the set. Each sheet has decals for four different aircraft. I've designed the skull as a two part decal for ease of application. My intent is for the modeler to be able to apply the lower portion of the skull first, beneath the exhaust stacks. When ready, the modeler can then apply the upper portion of the skull, above the exhaust stacks. The sheets include a spare skull for each side of the nose. The decals are available through http://shop.miscmini.com/ or via PM.

The decals are designed to fit the 1/200 scale Armaments in Miniature model. Please let me know if you need them for a different vendor or scale.
