Bleriot XI, Serbian Airforce

This is Bleriot XI, nicknamed Oluy (the Storm), flown by 2nd Lieutenant Miodrag Tomich during 1914-1915. It's Shapeway's model (thanks to Kampflieger). Pilot's are Peter Pig's. Decals and paintings are mine.





Intersting thing about this particular plane is that's first armed Serbian aircraft. Frustrated after two encounters with K.u.K. airplanes, and exchanging pistol fire, Lt. Tomich decided to mount Schwartzlose machine gun to his airplane.

I hate to think how much additional drag (and weight) the MG must have had on an already low-powered airfarme. A nice, unusual subject though!
