Default 3D printed WW1 Observation balloons on ebay

I was on ebay last night and was searching for some 3D printed models. When I stumbled across a chap based in the UK selling 3D printed WW1 observation balloons for a very good price. The company is called Dragon Badger Models. He has made the Parsevel - Siegsfeld observation balloon, which he is selling it for £19.95. The other one is the Caquot type of observation balloon. And he is selling that version for £19.50. Postage for these gas bags is £3.50, I haven't checked out what the cost for international shipping is. I am getting paid at the end of this month so I might just buy one or two of these to add to my collection. What I'd like to know is where can I source bases and stands/pegs for them. If anyone out there knows where I can acquire them I would be very grateful.

Let us know how you get on with that, Mark. Entoyment have bomber stands according to their website - pack of 24 for £4.50. Can't help with the stand, maybe Litko or some such ?

Thank you Dave. I will take a look at Litko to see what they have which would be suitable. I will also pay a visit to Entoyments website for the pegs.

Mark - Litko advertises an observation balloon base and stand. The base is smaller than the balloon card that Ares sells so it fits nicely on top of it. In addition I glue a Litko flight peg (2 or 3 mm) on top of their stand to get more height on my Drachen and only needed a smaller hole for the peg. I have attached a link (I hope) to my folder (Drachen and Friends) to see it all together.

Not sure if they have a UK equivalent site but Litko has a:
custom base maker that I recently used to get various sizes made, and the price quote generated is nearly immediate.

    For balloon base:
    3mm acrylic 90 x 195mm rectangular base
3mm rounded corners and I went with a 4.5mm hole

A short bomber peg could be glued into the hole, or I use a 3/16"-1/2" size stepper drill bit to grind out the underside of the hole (probably overkill) to make room for a flat head machine screw to fit flush, which goes into a telescoping magnet tool. A washer is epoxied into the steering mouth of the drachen for attachment.

Thank you guys for all of your useful advice. All I can do now is wait for the end of the month to raid my wages

    Hello all,

Linked are my free designs of both the Drachen and the Caquot models I did a few years ago. No baskets, but they are designed to use the large pegs in WoG. Both come with Entente and Central Powers bases.

Nice looking balloons. I especially like how you put the total damage points right on the bases.

Thanks! At some point I may redesign but these work really well for most printer sizes.
