Default WW1 aerial warfare at the Military History Museum - Vienna

A little impediment like a honeymoon wouldn't prevent me from feeding my inner history buff.
My wife was then spoiled with an entire morning at the Military History Museum in Vienna.

I thought the forum would appreciate some pics from there!

Etrich Taube plane model - for the Bibliophiles on the forum, this was the plane J.Biggins's character O.Prohaszka learns to fly in «The Emperor's coloured coat»

Unfortunately the pictures are not a great display of photography but naturally flash was out of the question due to preservation concerns and I didn't want to "cheat" using an editor!

Anyone passing by Vienna should take the chance to visit this gem of a museum!
In the shop they even sell replica of Austro-Hungarian decorations, in case you play such a good game of WoG that you feel compelled to make yourself a Knight of the Order of Maria Theresa!

Thanks for your little tour round the Museum Valerio.
The pictures look great to me. Glass cases always provide a problem.

Nice pics Valerio. When I was last there (must be 10 years at least) the Albatros wasn't suspended.

There was also a Storch in the WW2 gallery

Did you get to the Technical Museum? They had on display an Etrich Taube and an Aviatik-Berg D.I

And the flak tower, which had been turned into an aquarium.

This museum would be really interesting for me.
If I ever go to Vienna, I will definitely pay a visit.

I didn't manage to, we had so much to see that even if we had stayed a whole week we would have not have enough time to see it all! Also I didn't want to bore my wife out of her mind so...

I made a point to come back to Austria, though, so I might just as well add the Technical Museum to the list of things to visit!

Congrats on marrying a girl who will tour military museums.

    Definitely a keeper.
Thanks for taking time to post your pictures.
Now go and spoil your bride!

P.S. Thanks for the additional pics, Steve.

The secret is all in setting the standards early enough, before getting married I dragged her into the military/naval museums of half of Europe and Italy
Now, if I could only convince her to play WoG!!!

Somewhere on the forum is a number of posts from several years ago, where two guys in Poland introduced their women to WoG. They made a weekly game night if it, with food and wine. It was not long before the women became quite good at the game.

"Friday nights we play with wives!" wasn't it?

Great pics. I like museums too. Looking at the first picture of the Erich Taube plane I cannot help but wonder how the pilot managed to get into the cockpit. So many wires everywhere. The J Biggins novels are well worth reading.

As a seafarer, naval Wargamer and WoG player they are constant inspiration for me!
And I agree on the Taube, pilots must have been poured in the cockpit like drinks through a strainer
