Game 4, Saturday noon, "Hunting Martians". This scenario is an attack on a Martian landing zone. The earthlings are out to destroy the Martian base. One large round Martian base surrounded with four terrain pieces that could trip up the Tripods.
After a couple of moves into the game the Martians have spread out around their base. The incoming planes jocky around to try to get in shots at the unshielded sides.
A cannon armed SPAD XII takes a shot but comes up empty. This beautiful SPAD that I just bought off of Clipper had the worst luck, I may have to return it. You've never seen so many zeros shot from a cannon!
I had to keep in line with the game's title and have a Triplane on the board.
Even after being strongly warned to stay away from the terrain, a Martian had to find out for himself. He was lucky no plane was in position to shoot him while the shields were down.
The poor SPAD XII now has engine damage and is delayed getting back into the fight by constantly stalling.
One Martian needs a larger recharge that he gets from his base while the attacking planes are elsewhere.
The Martians are circling the wagons around their base. One rocket armed N16 was destroyed in the process of releasing it's rockets at the base. A close call for the Martians. The N16 will be back. (respawned at the top of the photo you can only see the base)
Another N16 gets in close to the Martian gathering.
Swirling planes and dancing Martians, more like a game of Twister!
Third time's a charm. The N16's 3rd attempt at attacking the base finally succeeds! One rocket hits home but the other misses the base completely but serious damage has been done.
One Martian is finally destroyed along with the base! Earth claims a victory in this encounter but there are still more Martians to hunt down.
