All of my administrative duties are now complete (retirement papers). Now I have time to enjoy an afternoon balloon sortie. My batman. OOPS! Wrong country. My Ordonnanz serves me my midday meal. I shall submit my report upon my return. Then I will go to the Officer's Club for my usual libation and smoke.

As a retiree, I can tell you that you will soon get tired of that sort of indolent lifestyle.
You will soon be hankering for an early morning patrol, in addition to the afternoon one. On a good day you may even try a solo sortie in the evening, before retiring to the Officers club for a good old knees up, or whatever passes for this in Germany.

Hello my friends!
I have cheated death once again! I crossed the trenches into the enemy's sky (yes I know it is against orders) to increase my score and bring one down for the fatherland. I was only a few kilometers into the area when I spot two Neuport 17s. I closed in the trailing aircraft from behind and they instantly seperated. I stuck to my target bring him into my sights when all of a sudden I received rounds from I don't know where into my engine. My trusty Albatross was now a glider. I turned East and made for the ground. My two "friends" were very nice and decided to escort me from behind while giving me the best gun salute I have ever received. Not to have them feel neglected I decided to show them my aerobatic prowess. They were so impressed that they applauded with another gun salute! By now I was running out of sky and speed. I decided speed was better than sky and gave the French countryside a huge impression of German technology; I crashed.

When I woke up from my nap I saw my friends leaving for what I believe to be the direction of their officer's mess. Then I heard a "poof" and my flying war machine decided to turn into a fire boat and take me to Valhala in the great viking tradition. I thought it to be a grand gesture, but I had other plans. I gracefully left my warbird in such a way as to make the best athlets green with envy (I jumped out and landed on my face). I made for the trees and made myself at home so as not to intrude on the hospitality of my local friends.

Oh heck I just ran out of gas and landed down on the main road about two kilometers from here. Guns empty with no score.

Now where's my drink!
