Thank you :drinks:
Luckily Shapeways have decided to have a perfectly timed sale, with discounts on our own designs. So I have ordered one pack of most things so far to see how they go, and give them a nice kick.

Great. Let me know how they come out.
Shapeways 20% off and free shipping on orders of $50+ inspired me to finish this for my Eastern Front games.

Now that does look really superb John. It will be great to see one painted.
Rob.
Thanks. Getting that will give me the incentive to finish the Zeppelin-Staacken R.IV, which I am doing in the same CDL scheme.
I lied. Thinking back, I remembered that Zoe wanted some SE5s, so I put a couple of those at the front of the queue.

Just put an order in; John, we'll see if the bugs are out of the Bugs ;)
Karl
Thanks! I know someone has bought them since I made them, but I'll keep my fingers crossed just the same.
I bought some Bugs when they jumped through their 3rd flaming hoop. They came out great.
For which many thanks. SE5s - not 5a's - have some particularly nice paint schemes.

The drawing I went with had a slightly different configuration. No headrest. Large canopy. Still, an interesting variation. Hopefully they will meet your needs.

I'm not sure if the cannons will pass Shapeway's Q/C, sorry in advance if they don't.
If so I have created a version with radar, but no cannons to replace the 5N.

Can I ask for a Hawker Fury? The biplane?
I can have a look.
It may also be worth posting on this thread:

Thanks Steve!

In all new WSF too. Yep, this is my first model done in both FUD & WSF. Each is different, as I wanted to keep the detail in the FUD. You can thank Zoe for bending my ear on this.
I will revisit my older models over time to do WSF, and try to do all new bits as well.

Great, I'm a WSF guy myself. I love the FUD detail but not the price and fragility. Next Shapeways order I'll get a pair or more of these.
I don't see FUD as that fragile as it goes. Yes on thin wires and struts, so I wouldn't go down the WWI in FUD route.
But WWII planes are pretty solid, and FUD seems on par with various modelling plastics I've worked with before.
But then, it's all subjective, and personal preference. It's just a pain having to rebuild a plane twice for different materials.
I could do just one, but then the point of the detail in FUD would be lost.
You're right. I didn't think about the smaller monoplanes not being as brittle as the larger 1/144 WWI strutters. It would be interesting to know the difference in sales between the more detailed FUD and the less expensive WSF where the same model is in both materials.
Here's my FUD expereinces, first a Fokker DVII dropped off the work bench onto a tile floor . . .

Second and last was an HP 400 FUD, lots of warping that would not reform and then the big drop . . .

FUD was nice for detail, but I will not be venturing down that road again . . .
Yep, thin wires. It wasn't the D.VII's fault, it was your tiled floor. We have nice bouncy carpet ;)
When I get brave enough, I may try stress testing one of mine. But from what I can see the WWII shapes lend themselves to being a similar strength to Ares originals.
I've added the Curtiss P-40E & P-40F/L.

Those are very imaginative uses of the damaged planes, David!
This is a more popular thread than I imagined it would be when I started it. 10K views in less than 2 years! Hope all you Shapeways designers are doing well enough to keep you going designing more planes for us addicts.
Sample pack came through, with a few extras. I can say with hand on heart everything looks lovely. Though I know, as a cook, I'm not meant to praise my own cooking.
So I can say now, I'm removing the Doodlebugs, P40s, Hellcats, Avengers, Re.2002s from beta.
The Tempests need some work, so they have been suspended for a while. The Folgores & Buffalos, I'm still deciding on.
If I can get my finger out, I may post some pictures of the results.
Great news Steve. I'll update the list.
Feel free to start a new thread in "Shapeways Releases" to announce things newly out of beta. That's what was originally intended when I created my own announcement/list thread there (one thread per designer), and it's more site-policy compliant than the old way of one new thread per design. The first posting can contain a list of all your designs, continuously updated as things clear beta, and followon postings can show pictures, announce changes, discuss, etc.
I've been thinking about doing that, but I can't think of a suitable subject line. I don't have a nice company name for 3D designs.
edit: Set up the thread here
Just post there. No need to put it in two places. I now know where to look. :)
I have made a slight change in the lists. The accessories are now all on their own list. So now there are 3 lists, 1: WWI planes, 2: WW2 planes and 3: Accessories.
