Great game and I love the pictures.
Just booked myself and Mrs K in.
Rob.
I'll bring the stotties then.
A tattoo?! That seems a drastic way to get wrinkles out of a polo... ;)
...and I'm not really certain of the science involved... but to each his own! ;)
Tattoo! Yes! Let's choose a body part...
That would bind us all forever:serious:
My :waf: would kill me...
Upper knuckle of the forefinger on your left hand.
Rob.
Bottom of right sole...might be a bit tickley but easy to hide, or perhaps behind the right knee?
But not so easy to hide as my idea Neil.
Rob.
So, all the booking (flight and accomodation) at Central East plus "business as usual" with UK WingCo has been succesfully planned and done from that side of the Channel;).
Now the workbench awaits...
Great Andy, and if you look in we fly with wives you will also see that you had a successful sortie last night.
Rob.
I have seen that already! :D:D:D
Dates pencilled into diary - hope to at least be able to visit the South Yorkshire Air Museum on one day that weekend.
Alternatively how could somebody who was interested and prepared to help out / contribute to this event somehow go about doing so please? That is of course if the opportunity / need is there or ever arises :)
Have become a massive fan of Wings of Glory WW2 but have only been actually playing since February 28th 2015. So any / all learning opportunities very greatly appreciated ...
I can highly recommed the afore mentioned game. But watch out for Maureen the killer female fighter pilot.
Sounds like someone has just stuck a big fat target on his back ! :erk:
I was just joking;)
After a preliminary meeting at WMMS the following has been broadly put forward as a starting point for Doncaster 2015 format:
Friday Night: Chris has kindly arranged a venue for gaming with a drinking licence. Format free play, no formalised games.
Saturday: working on 3-4 tables: Each table will have an AM and a PM slot available for Games Organisers to bid for a slot.
Sunday: working on 3-4 tables: Each table will have an AM slot for Games Organisers to bid for a slot.
Sunday PM: is reserved for the finale game.
Prize Giving: Between the Am/PM slots on Sunday to allow those who need to leave early the chance to get their prizes.
At present Games Organisers will be restricted to 1 slot over the weekend, either Saturday Am/PM or Sunday AM.
If spare slots are not taken up by a date TBC then these slots will be thrown open to a first come first served basis.
This allows other gamers the chance to put on a game and for overseas participants to put on games too.
There will be a finish time for each slot and no game will be allowed to overrun. Games must finish and tally scores taken at the stipulate game finish time.
A number of ideas were put forward for games here are a few:
Dambusters: Lancasters trying to take out a dam or dams.
OP Pedestal: Can the Axis take out the convoy and stop it getting to Malta.
B17 raid: B17's being attacked en route for a daylight bombing raid over Germany.
1 on 1 knock out competition.
Get your thinking caps on. Lets have another bevvy of fantastic games to play and if you'd like to take on the Finale Game please put your name in the hat.
More details forthcoming as we finalise the format and answer your many questions.
Neil, on behalf of the WingCo and those present at the meeting at WMMS.
Sounds great, Neil:) Especially the free play with drinks on Friday Night :guns::FOK::crash:
We have had the offer of a special brew to be made for this occasion, does that help?:drunk::drunk::drunk:
Unfortunately due to commitments both in support of HM armed forces, my daughter's showjumping schedule and the Premiership fixture list for the 2015/16 season. I won't know whether I'll be able to attend until much later in the year. However, if I can I'm happy to put on another WW1 aeronaval bash. It seemed to go down well last time (as indeed did the U Boat at the end of the game!)
Are we going to see if we can smash the WGF record for the number of allied bombers fittable into one game - was it 31 involved in the WMMS WGF Scenario?
Let's see: Train Busting! 'What's this? Did somebody just throw a train at you!' - from the film 'Red Tails' (For WGS.)
Study Your Adversary: Anybody got the dark grey Recon Spitfire to hand? If not I could always volunteer a Beaufighter now I have one. This is basically a Recon Mission for a single target aircraft being flown over Fortress Europe. The Axis deploys a number of appropriate fighters which are aware of Recon Missions being flown: Goal is to identify and shoot down single target. Wei alles ist nicht gut? Could get a bit 'chasy' so prepared for feedback suggesting this being a problem. (For WGS.)
[B]Faith Hope and Charity[B]: The Seige of Malta, 1940. Note: Requires three identical Gloster Sea Gladiators (I have one so far) or at a push a mix of the Pattle / Burges liveries. To keep the Historians out there happy should they take a look in on proceedings. Objective: Defend Malta from everything the Axis is able to throw at it! Scope for involving quite a number of players mainly on the Axis side. But three Gloster Gladiators on the Allies side are the most critical aspect of this Mission as this actually happened in WW2. Also scope for a Hurricane Mk 1 or two if anybody has them available to back up the Gladiators - Allies side. Shows off the versatility of Wings of Glory for recreating actual historic events as well as scenarios (For WGS.)
Huntmaster to Hounds: Inspired by the 1969 film 'Mosquito Squadron' with David McCallum in it. Requires either a bunch of DH 98 Mosquitoes or Westland Whirlwinds to go and bust up some ground targets (in the opening sequence of this film these are V1 rocket launching sites) but getting sprung by the Axis as they are coming away from the attack. So this scenario over Occupied (northern) France guarantees at least one major skirmish ... 'Have you brought your driving license with you? Any lower and we are going to need it!' - Nicky Henson to David McCallum during film's opening sequence (For WGS.)
I will look into a few other ideas - though if feedback does come back vis-a-vis the risk of the Recon Mission becoming too 'chasy' I will then know what sort of suggestion(s) to avoid.
PS - I don't normally drink ... But I would sure as hell have one if my Beaufighter returned from Fortress Europe unscathed! :pint:
:) Aussietonka :)
Well there you go Barnaby a plethora of ideas for you to run a game. You just need to bid for a slot now.
I hope I know enough in order to host a session as you suggest by the time the bidding process starts. Let us hope so as I only began playing on February 28th 2015.
Thank you very much - at least I now know the possibility of bidding for slots is there now
