Simple but very nice. Great work

Another repaint...looking a bit more yellow than how it actually turned out...Herman Goring's Halb. D.III. I used a Vallejo slightly off white color so that the white panels on the Eisenkruz would be a slightly different shade, as indicated in Kilduff's book on Goring.

This is another one. The fifth one. I'm still missing some. :p

This one still has some original coloring in it. I thought that the brown was so nice...

This is the only major variance I made to Andrzej's scheme.

The family grows again! Soon you will have a whole squadron in this scheme.
Just the same as mine then Quim.
Mine seem to fly in twos and threes only.
Rob.
Here are the four Halberstadt ClII aircraft I painted up for the "Grabenangriff" scenario I ran at Origins this year. The majority of the work was pretty straightforward and simply involved detailing a bit. I painted the edges of the wings green to match the color in the lozenge camo rather than leaving them red, changed the number 3 on three of them to be different aircraft of the Schlasta, repainted the under-surfaces so they matched (wings with one another and touched up the fuselage color), engines and Parabellums were painted black, and the ring for the observer's gun was painted tan to approximate a wood color (as most pics depict this as a wooden ring).

The scenario worked pretty well, and the German participants were pleasantly surprised that the planes were numbered to easily differentiate them...;)
As always, thanks for looking!
All the best,
Matt
A fine flight of Halberstadts Matt. I might have to steal...ah... borrow your idea with this flight. Looks great.
Magnificent!
I too might engage in a little livery larceny! ;)
Very nice, like those a lot
Your skill with a brush is top notch, Matt.
Those look terrific.
Nice work Matt!
4 new beauties from your workshop Matt.

Sweet looking Halberstadts here, Tim! I really do like groupings of planes like this - the brown and green looks very nice:sAprvd: Glad the Muse continues to inspire!
All the best,
Matt
Very nice, as usual, Tim.
Even if they aren't red and white ...
:p
Nice work Zoe.
Just looked in on this and the paint jobs are fantastic. Great job by all.
Nice Halb Zoe. Somehow those Polish colors always look great...right Andy? ;)
Another great squadron Tim!
Thanks Peter, and double thanks for the REP!
Still going through my official Wings of War/Glory 'spares' and decided to repaint my extra von Keudell Halberstadt D.III.
Attachment 215365
As have others on the forum I chose a bright blue scheme for this Halberstadt. Rumour has it that Oswald Boelcke flew such a machine, however authoritative sources have discredited the story.
Attachment 215366
Perhaps in the alternative reality of a Wings of Glory campaign a virtual Boelcke could pilot this Halberstadt as he leads Jasta 2 into aerial combat with the RFC?
Attachment 215364
Nice job!
I too have a spare Keudell, and I too had settled on an "overall blue" scheme.
It's a long way down my queue, though.
Nice one Carl. The overall blue is a nice look. If I ever get another Halby to repaint its a must.
Looks great, Carl.
Love the blue.
Another nice repaint Carl.

Thanks to all those who have contributed to this thread over the years. I recently bought a Shapeways Halberstadt D.II. When I looked in books I couldn't find much information about colour schemes. There were either dark photographs of a purple and green camouflage, or a beige colour. So this thread provided inspiration. I have gone for a pale blue underside with a camouflage upper. The camouflage uses a dark green and a lighter colour. Being restricted in the colours I had available, the lighter colour was created by using different colours in different coats of paint. When I've got the markings on I'll post of photograph in this thread.
Thanks again to all those who shared the results of their painting.
As promised in February, here are the results of my work on my Shapeways Halberstadt D.II.

Wow, Alex! Those are the most beautifully done Shapeways models that I've seen. It's FUD for me from now on. Great work!Quote:
