Well you have to start somewhere

Yes you do, and it looks good!
A very good start you have made too.
A good choice of scheme from which you can develope in your own good time.
Welcome to the club.
Rob.
As you say John, you have to start, personally I like the red stripes on the red background scheme ;)  :takecover:
Very good planes you guys have there!:thumbsup:I don't have pictures of my collection of Fokkers.:(I paint the Dr.I of Jacobs, Voss, LVR and Kirschstein.
Thanks for the pictures and beautiful planes.

one more to come :)
I know it's not the greatest paint job, but I had to repaint my new Red baron. I bought him by mistake, as I already had the Series one version. I have to clean it up some and maybe add some extra paint to it, but for now, it's more like a Rookie Pilot's bird. Something you give to a guy that just came to the front who has not had a chance to prove himself in combat and then paint his bird.....

Many great paint jobs. My hat is off to each of you .
After making a few minor changes to my new Elwood Camel, decided to do some of the same changes to my new Lothar v.R. Tripe.
Not a complete repaint, but just some corrections for my taste. Once again, spent about 1.5 hours on the reworking. Shaved the prop, then some minor painting. Touched up the wing edges and the yellow on fuselage underside (my mini had most of the underside blue showing through the yellow). Painted the landing gear struts red and the top of the wheel axle wing green. Engine cylinders once again received a blued steel/silver treatment. Also painted the wing tip protectors natural wood color. Will finally hit all my aircraft with dull sealant as I am not a fan of shiny miniatures. Considering streaking the green, but I'll decide that later. Right now its good to go.

A great improvement on the original Gyula. Are you doing this with all the new releases?
Rob.
Probably. Still have a a new MvR and Kirschstein left too look at. Kirschstein's upper wing edges will be the most difficult to fix.
MvR looks a little easier to upgrade. Those are the only new ones I have left.
I did pick up the Chaput's MS. I'd like to try my hand at rigging it. Noted several excellent examples on the aerodrome site.
Though fun to upgrade the factory minis, I dont want to take it too far.:fixit:
If the mini requires a full reworking, I'll pick up Shapeways or some of the excellent SRAM kits. :fokker:
All right , I'm done for a bit.:surrender:
My new Kirschstein's Dr.I. Prop, wing edges, guns, and axle wing. Also, I painted the wheel covers.
Three planes done. Time to wait for some decent weather to seal them with dull coating.

Yup, gonna have to touch up the LVR... but not a hard thing to do. maybe buy up a couple more LVRs and start the repaints.. more from the Circus could be in order..
After receiving the 'new' WGF Series I I had two all red Fokker Dr.1's. I decided to do a quick 'repaint', more of a 're-decal' really, producing von Richthofen's last mount 425/17 in April 1918 livery. After painting over the existing national markings I applied some Skytrex 'Balkenkreuz' decals left over from a previous model. I painted over rather than removed the original decals because I wanted to be able to just see the old markings underneath, which was often the case in the actual aircraft.
I used the Series 1 repaint version of MvR's triplane as the red was more of a match to the paint. And I could not bring myself to repaint my original Series 1 as it was my first Wings of War miniature.

Great idea Chris.
It has always been a bone of contention about Manfreds all red Fokker. Now you have the choice of which one of the three paint schemes to field.
Rob.
I recently had some time off from work (the wife had surgery) and I managed to squeeze in some painting time.. mostly in the wee hours of the night! One of the planes I turned out was Jacobs Dr.I. It was all black paint and decals, so not hard, but fast... just what I had time and energy for!

I've got a painted PP pilot to put in it... just forgot to!
Very nicely done :)
Beautiful planes, all very well done!
Great looking planes. Sometimes, the easy repaints can be some of the best!
Very impressive Herr Oberst.
I have always liked the insignia on that plane, and yours is particularly crisp.
Rob.
Thanks guys. I did spot a bit of red peaking though on one of those wing tips in the photos. And the silvering around the daemon decal is not as bad in real life... I think the flash made it stand out more then it does under normal lighting. Still wish I could get rid of it completely.
Maybe the easiest repaint ever thanks to some old 1:144 D3A Val decals, Urnst Udet, Jasta 4.

Nice one Ian. I hope my Wolfram von Richthofen is as easy to do.
Rob.
Yep, looks good and is on my list to do!
I am sure that this repaint was not so easy. You have to have good decal-making skill. Great job Ian.

My version of August Raben's Dr.I.
Lol I've taken all of my piccies off my HTC smart phone, but it seems the images that I've taken are far to blurry, perhaps I need to have a tinker with my mobile and see if the picture quality improves, they're better in the flesh but sadly the photos are letting them down chaps.
I have to agree. Even though you are my sworn enemy, your custom planes look mighty fine.
Inspiring. Now I have to decide my color scheme, which is what is slowing me down!
Very nice looking model!
As Dave said, it looks fine to me.
Rob.
Ok my first attempt at painting Dr1. This was a RED BARON DR 1 now transformed into a Rahns

Although the picture is none too clear, it looks as if you have made a first rate job of it Mike. You can tell just by observing the diamond pattern around the fusalage.
Rob.
Some really nice looking DR1's. Have to put them on my to buy list...again. I just love DR1's
